The representative of Ukraine refused to participate in Eurovision

The representative of Ukraine at Eurovision Alina Pash refused to participate in the contest.

Pash, shortlisted for an international song contest, was at the center of a scandal after it was revealed that she had been to Crimea after it was annexed to Russia.

She announced her refusal on Instagram. “I am a citizen of Ukraine, I follow the laws of Ukraine, I try to carry the traditions and values of Ukraine to the world. What this story resulted in is not at all what I put into my song. I'm an artist, not a politician. I do not have an army of PR people, managers, lawyers to resist the attack and onslaught, the hacking of my social networks; threats,” she wrote.

It is known that Pash visited Crimea in 2015, arriving there on Russian airlines, which is prohibited by Ukrainian law. The singer was accused of providing a false certificate of crossing the border from the Ukrainian side. Pash herself laid the blame for this on her director.

Earlier it was reported that Ukraine could be removed from Eurovision.
