Russia - The Battle of Kursk memorial project competition has been extended until March 14

Russia (bbabo.net), - The Battle of Kursk Memorial Complex project competition, announced by the Russian Military Historical Society in September 2021, received 17 entries from authors and creative teams from different regions of Russia, as well as from Germany. However, according to experts, they need to be improved.

"The scale of the project should correspond to the historical event. I'm not talking about the art of monumental sculpture and the art of a monument in honor of the event. On the one hand, some of the ideas presented are already familiar repetitions of various kinds of stelae or this kind of abstract monuments. On the other hand - some of the proposed projects are not expressive," Andrey Konchalovsky, chairman of the Creative Council of the Russian Military Historical Society, shared his opinion.

It was decided to extend the competition until March 14, 2022. Creative recommendations will also be added as part of the terms of reference for sculptors.

Along with the authors, who will have to finalize the previously submitted projects, sculptors and creative teams are invited to participate in the competition, ready to propose new projects for the Battle of Kursk Memorial Complex.

All works can be viewed at an online exhibition on the website of the Russian Military Historical Society.
