Russia - Shooting of a film about the blockade football began in St. Petersburg

Russia (bbabo.net), - Shooting of a film dedicated to the legendary football match of 1942 in besieged Leningrad has begun at Lenfilm.

The game between the team of the "N-sky plant", assembled from the players of the Leningrad clubs "Zenit" and "Spartak" remaining in the city, and the team of "Dynamo" took place in the exhausted city on May 31. The athletes were exhausted, during they even refused to sit down, fearing that they would not be able to get up. The match ended with the victory of "Dynamo" with a score of 6:0, the players left the field hugging each other, helping each other. A report about the meeting was broadcast on the radio simultaneously in Russian and German.

This game was followed by a whole series of "siege games", with which Leningrad proved that it was alive and continued to fight.

As the director of the film Vagenak Balayan said, it will be a full-length documentary with inserts of feature films. Part of the filming will take place at the Museum of City Electric Transport and at the Dynamo stadium. Other locations, in particular the football field, where the main events will unfold, are still being selected. The film crew began to select artists.

The plot was based on the recently published book "Petrograd. Football of the Chekists", written by film critic Alexei Dunayevsky. He also became the scriptwriter.

If the film will present a story about only one case from the life of the Leningrad Dynamo, then in the events cover a whole twenty years, starting with the first sports circle created by the investigators of the Cheka of the GPU in the early 20s of the last century. It was he who became the predecessor of the Leningrad Proletarian Sports Society.

Some of its participants were real heroes of their time: they went through the First World War, the Civil War and fought against banditry in peaceful days. In addition, they were enthusiasts of football, which was then called "proletarian physical education."

The book includes many facts, photographs and documents previously unknown to a wide range of people. Some of them were classified due to the fact that these are archives of closed departments.
