Russian films about the tragedy of Muslims will be presented at the Berlin Film Festival

At the 72nd Berlin Film Festival, which will be held mainly offline, five Russian films will be presented, and two of them are dedicated to Muslims at once.

The "Panorama" program will show the debut feature film by Mikhail Borodin "Products 24". The picture is based on a true story about modern slavery among migrants.

"Products 24" is "direct action cinema" because what is shown in the film is still happening. Borodin, who also acted as the scriptwriter, filmed Bakia Kasimova, one of the participants in the events, in the film.

The plot is built around Muhabbat. She lives and works in a grocery store on the outskirts of Moscow. This is one of the many small, inconspicuous retail outlets in the basement of a high-rise building. Almost all employees are migrants. Muhabbat has no money and documents, she cannot escape, but one day she succeeds. Only it turns out that getting free is easier than surviving later.

"We are raising a very important topic, which is not customary to talk about aloud - the topic of slavery. The European Court of Human Rights began to consider the Case of the Golyanovsky Slaves at the end of December, to which the film is dedicated. The story is unfinished, because this store is still working" , says the director.

"Products 24" is not only about slavery and migrants, economic and environmental crises. This is a personal touching story about a woman, mother, love and friendship, justice and dreams.

The competition program of series will include two episodes of the detective project "Identification" director Vladlena Sandu.

The plot revolves around the tragedy in the family of Muslim Kyrgyz. Valeria is an orphan, lives and works in the clothing market. She converts to Islam and marries Aman, the younger brother employer Bakir.

During the celebration, Bakir is killed, Valeria becomes the main suspect, it was she who was the last to see him alive. In the pre-trial detention center, it turns out that she is not who she claims to be. But only the investigator and the lawyer believe in the heroine's innocence.

“Identification” will be released in Russia on February 17th. The release date of the film "Products 24" is still being specified, RIA Novosti reports.
