Russia (bbabo.net), - The international festival of film debuts "Spirit of Fire" has started in Khanty-Mansiysk. This year, two forums were united at once - the 19th and the 20th. Last year, the film festival did not take place due to the pandemic.

Airbus A320 "Moscow - Khanty-Mansiysk" was filled with participants of the "Spirit of Fire". A foreign speech sounded: English, German, Polish, Serbian ... Guests from India, Argentina, the Philippines, Georgia, Canada, the USA, Denmark arrived at the festival, now flaunting in the cold in stylish snow-white down jackets and white felt boots - gifts from the "Spirit of Fire", otherwise do not survive the Russian winter.

And there was a "star track" in the CTC "Ugra-Classic". And after it - the grand opening of the festival.

A moment of silence and a memorable video clip were dedicated to the deceased president of the festival, director Sergei Solovyov. On the screen - footage from the legendary "Assy". On stage at the piano, Sergei Alexandrovich's daughter, composer Anna Drubich. Today she is on the jury team that evaluates the films of the Russian competition. And the graduates of the Solovyov's VGIK workshop became the hosts of the ceremony.

They remembered those who previously came to Khanty-Mansiysk, participated in the life of the festival, walked the red carpet, such beloved actors and directors: Alexander Abdulov, Oleg Yankovsky, Stanislav Govorukhin, Andrey Smirnov, Pavel Lungin, Igor Yasulovich, Catherine Deneuve, Barbara Brylska ... Twenty years since the "Spirit of Fire" has become a meeting place for debutants and masters of cinema. Paolo Sorrentino (Italy), Alejandro González Inarritu (Mexico), Cornel Mundruzo (Hungary), Radu Jude (Romania), Petr Zelenka (Czech Republic) showed their first works here... And ours - Alexei German Jr., Ivan Vyrypaev, Petr Buslov, Alexey Fedorchenko (director from Yekaterinburg - a recognized master, now he is here the chairman of the jury of the Russian debuts competition).

The members of the jury and the main prizes of the festival were presented.

Program director Boris Nelepo awarded the winners of the open microfilm competition of the XIX and XX festivals (according to the results of Internet voting). Children from Vladivostok, Surgut, Nizhny Tagil came to receive a prize in a special children's nomination in the age category of 12-17 years old. The main prize "Small Bronze Taiga" went to the film "Taiga Tales" by Alla Ishtimirova-Posokhova (Khanty-Mansiysk).

The results of a special competition for debut scripts for film projects among the countries of the Arctic Council have been summed up. The winners were congratulated by the producer Ekaterina Bordacheva, the curator of the competition, as well as the curator of the international competition program of films for children and youth "Your Cinema". The film "Children of the Northern Lights" by Danish scriptwriter and director Mariella Harpelunde Jensen was recognized as the best.

Vice-President of the festival "Spirit of Fire" Maria Zvereva presented the award "For Contribution to World Cinema" to Serbian film director Emir Kusturica. She said that Sergei Solovyov also wanted to do this. By the way, Kusturica received his first film award in 1981 from the hands of Solovyov - at the Venice Film Festival, where the Russian director was a member of the jury.

Emir Kusturica is a two-time winner of the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival for Best Director and Best Film. Among the famous film works of the master: "Time of the Gypsies", "Underground", "Black Cat, White Cat", "Life as a Miracle", "Testament".

The Governor of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Yugra, Natalia Komarova, welcoming the participants and guests of the event, emphasized that the spectator and author potential of the festival is growing every year. “For 20 years, Spirit of Fire has become one of the most anticipated and beloved events,” Komarova said. “And thanks to online broadcasts, now everyone can see it live.”

The head of the region recalled that one of the founders of the film festival, an outstanding director Sergei Solovyov, noted that every person dreams of looking into the future. And "Spirit of Fire" gives such an opportunity, because it is here, on the land of Yugra, that the cinema of tomorrow opens.

And after the end of the solemn ceremony, instead of the opening film, there was a concert by Kusturica and his famous The no smoking orchestra. The whole audience rejoiced and danced, even respectable members of the jury from different countries.

Films from more than 30 countries of the world will be shown in the region over the seven festival days. For adults and children, for the whole family.

How Makovetsky and Pegova were dressed

During the opening of the festival, a defile of costumes from the historical TV series Grozny took place on the "star path", which was filmed in 2020 by director Alexei Andrianov (produced by Moskino). Presented a collection of models of the Costume Theater KTC "Ugra-Classic". The artist Natalya Saltykova, who created the costumes for this picture, said:

- We brought 12 sets to the festival, mostly boyar costumes of the nobility surrounding the tsar, as well as clothes worn by Ivan the Terrible in the film (Sergey Makovetsky, Alexander Yatsenko wore it), Prince Andrey Kurbsky (Konstantin Kryukov), Anastasia, the first wife of Ivan the Terrible (Tatyana Lyalina), Maria Nagaya, the last wife of the tsar (Irina Pegova). Costumes are kept at Mosfilm.We have been working on them for about a year. It was very interesting. In the storerooms of the State Historical Museum, we were shown the preserved original clothes of Ivan the Terrible - his famous hair shirt, lemon-colored quilted caftan, we were allowed to touch them, and we also saw women's headdresses and jewelry.

The next day, five costumes went to the State Art Museum, where they will be presented on mannequins until February 28. And at the closing of the festival, the collection will return to the Ugra-Classic Center, where a defile will again take place.
