Novak responded to the statement of the head of the IEA about the fault of Russia in the energy crisis in Europe

Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak said on the Rossiya-1 TV channel that neither Gazprom nor Russia is to blame for the energy crisis in Europe.

Earlier, the head of the International Energy Agency (IEA), Fatih Birol, accused Russia of the energy crisis in Europe. In his opinion, Russia held back the volume of gas supplies to Europe during a period of "increased geopolitical tension."

“Of course, I was somewhat surprised by the statement of the head of such a respected international organization as the IEA, which is trying to shift from a sore head to a healthy problem that European consumers have today. There is certainly no fault here,” he said.

On January 14, gas in Europe rose in price to $1,100 per thousand cubic meters. The day before, the price of gas on the European stock exchange rose above $1,000 per thousand cubic meters. The increase in the cost of fuel occurred against the backdrop of Gazprom's statements that more than half of the reserves were pumped out of European gas storage facilities, and their filling level is at the lowest level in recent years.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the gas shortage is a “man-made result” of the European Commission’s policy.
