She clarified that in January, pensioners, taking into account additional indexation, will receive compensation in addition to the already received pension, which is increased by 5.9%.

"I believe that this decision will be made by the end of January. Thus, from February 1, pensioners will already receive pensions indexed by 8.6%, but this increase will go in relation to the December amount of pensions, because in January it will already be 5, 9% pension has been increased," Bibikova explained.

According to the senator, if the State Duma passes the relevant law on January 20, the Federation Council will have time to consider and approve the document on January 26.

Earlier, the first vice-speaker of the lower house of parliament, Alexander Zhukov, said that the State Duma intends to adopt a draft amendment on the indexation of pensions by 8.6% by the end of January.
