Gazprom announced the rapid depletion of storage facilities in Europe

European countries have withdrawn from their underground gas storages (UGS) already 2/3 of the volume of gas pumped in 2021, or almost 32 billion cubic meters. This is reported by TASS with reference to a press release from Gazprom.

It is noted that on January 18, the withdrawal reached 66.5% or 31.8 billion cubic meters of gas.

According to Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE), on January 18, the occupancy of underground storage facilities in Germany fell below 45% to 44.7%.

According to the GIE, on January 18, UGS occupancy decreased to 45.45%. Approximately 49.07 billion cubic meters of gas currently remain in European storage facilities, down 16.25 billion cubic meters from last year.

It is also known that the extraction of gas from European storage facilities amounted to 785.15 million cubic meters. Since the beginning of January, about 10.5 billion cubic meters of gas have been taken.

According to the information of the gas transmission operator Gascade, the reversal of gas through the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline from Germany to Poland continues for a month. Gazprom stopped pumping gas to Europe through the pipeline in the forward direction on December 21, 2021 due to the lack of applications from European consumers.

On the morning of January 20, the reversal of gas to Poland reached almost 1.3 million cubic meters per hour, which, in terms of a day, corresponds to volumes of about 30.4 million cubic meters.

Earlier it was reported that in Poland they were afraid of possible "tempting offers" from Gazprom.
