The government is leaning towards the position of the Ministry of Finance on cryptocurrencies, and not the Central Bank, Kommersant reports.
The Cabinet of Ministers is expected to make a decision on the cryptocurrency market in the near future. As follows from the materials of the meeting held on January 28 with Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko, by February 11, the government should prepare draft scenarios for regulating cryptocurrency markets and assessing their expected consequences.
On the main issue, about the possibility to some extent ensure the legality of the circulation of crypto assets in Russia under the control of the state, the positions of the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank still diverge, there are almost no disagreements on other issues.
Earlier, in January, the Bank of Russia proposed to ban almost all operations with cryptocurrencies in Russia, explaining this by high risks. The Ministry of Finance, in response, stated that instead of a complete ban, it is possible to establish rules for the crypto market.
As Olga Goncharova, GR director of Binance in the CIS, said, the potential amount of tax revenues from operations with crypto-assets in 2021 alone could reach up to 200 billion rubles.
