Ukraine explained the need to purchase gas from Russia

Ukrainian economist, co-chairman of the Energy Strategies Fund Dmitry Marunich said that Ukraine needs to conclude a direct contract with Gazprom for gas supplies, as high prices for "blue fuel" greatly harm its economy. He spoke about this on the air of the Nash TV channel.

“This is important not for Naftogaz, not for (Ukrainian President Volodymyr) Zelensky and the government of the country - this is important for the end consumer ... The final price (cubic meter) of gas with VAT is 60 hryvnia (about 160 rubles), because of this we the whole industry will soon stop,” Marunich said.

According to him, Ukrteplokommunenergo complains about Naftogaz, which, for its part, refuses to increase the volume of fuel supplies at a fixed price of 7.42 hryvnia (about 20 rubles) per cubic meter for the heating needs of the population of Ukraine, which threatens the stability of heat supplies and electricity to the homes of citizens of the country.

Marunich stressed that "getting off the Russian gas needle" could end in a negative way for the industry and citizens of Ukraine.

Earlier it became known that the gas purchased by Ukraine from Hungary is of Russian origin.
