Russia - Bloggers will talk about Russian cities in the language of the deaf

Russia (bbabo.net), - Bloggers from all over the country are recording videos where they represent the cities in which they live in sign language. Astrakhan - fish, Yugra - mammoth, St. Petersburg - umbrella ...

The project was conceived by the Museum "In Silence" in Moscow and a guide from Astrakhan Natalia Tuygunova. The goal is to demonstrate that tourism should not only be different, but also equal. The idea was supported by 12 regions, and this is not the limit.

“Over the past two years, domestic tourism has been actively developing, new routes appear. But are they all accessible to deaf and hard of hearing people? With our project, we want to change the situation, draw attention to the problem,” said Maria Aizina, founder of the In Silence Museum.

“I have many acquaintances from different cities who are engaged in tourism: guides and popular bloggers. I invited them to participate in the project,” said Natalia Tuygunova.

The project is at the very beginning of the journey. Now bloggers only represent cities. In the future, there will be a story about them. At least there are such plans.

"Now we are thinking about how to develop our project further," says Natalia Tuygunova. ".

Basically, deaf people use one gesture to indicate a word. But in the names of cities, there are gestures-symbols only for capitals. For example, Moscow is to touch the cheek twice with a fist. And Petersburg will have to be shown with nine signs - according to the number of letters from the dactyl alphabet.

Bloggers decided that everyone will determine the symbol of their region. And how to portray him was shown by the sign language interpreters of the museum. The sea became the symbol of Sochi, the lake of Karelia, the waterfall of Karachay-Cherkessia, the mountains of Pyatigorsk, and kalach of Murom.

A photographer and organizer of tours in Kaliningrad Andrey Novozhilov chose a stork. "This city has gone through a long historical path, the authorities have changed, but the storks continue to do so as they built their nests in the church. Come to Kaliningrad to get to know them!" Andrey invited.

Now the Instagram account @museuminsilence has posted videos from eleven cities, the twelfth one is being prepared - from Volgograd.

"We received letters from Dagestan and Kazan," Natalia said. "They offer to implement similar projects - to represent cities by symbols in sign language. It's so cool. Short positive videos demonstrate the willingness of guides to meet tourists with special needs."

As Maria Aizina said, now the museum "In Silence" is on a tour of Russia. "Recently, they moved from Vladimir to Yaroslavl," she said. "We are attracting the community of regions so that sign language interpreters appear in museums."
