Russia (bbabo.net), - The Union of Cement Producers believes that the quality of imported cement may soon decline. The reason for this - innovations in order to control its quality at the border.

By order of Rosstandart dated January 28, it was decided to suspend one of the provisions of GOST on the rules for certification of cements. This paragraph says that when passing the border, additional control of each batch of cement by the certification body should be carried out.

Soyuzcement believes that the suspension of this provision will entail an increase in the imported cement, and of low quality. Prices for it may be lower than the cost of Russian-made cement. This will negatively affect domestic producers, and also threatens to destroy the constructed structures and may affect public health due to the possible presence of harmful impurities in counterfeit cement, the association notes.

Meanwhile, now cement enterprises in Russia are only 57% loaded, and their capacity surplus is 44.2 million tons per year, Soyuzcement reports.
