Cryptocurrency tax proposed to be equalized with housing tax

The taxation of cryptocurrencies in the Russian Federation was proposed to be made similar to the property tax. This was announced during the round table “Cryptoindustry: trends, technologies, regulation” by the head of the financial policy department of the Ministry of Finance Ivan Chebeskov, TASS reports.

So, digital currency can be equated to property and tax on profits owners.

“There are really a lot of questions on taxation. There is taxation, which is associated with individuals, with legal entities. A separate topic is the taxation of mining. In general, it is assumed that the digital currency will be equated to a certain property,” Chebeskov said.

According to him, the issue of a transitional period for this type of taxation is still being discussed. In general, this can be an incentive to declare these assets. The final bill on the regulation of cryptocurrencies will be prepared by February 18, after which it will be submitted to the government.

Chebeskov shared that it is now difficult to predict what the result will be when considering the bill. The main task is to do everything thoughtfully and consciously.

On February 8, the government of the Russian Federation supported the concept of regulating the circulation of digital currencies, which was developed by the Ministry of Finance. Thus, the Cabinet opposed the idea of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, which proposed to completely ban cryptocurrencies in Russia.
