Russia - The Ministry of Health told which companies often inflate prices for PCR tests

Russia (bbabo.net), - PCR tests for coronavirus infection are most often overestimated by private medical organizations, not state ones. Now the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) together with the Prosecutor General's Office is monitoring prices.

This was announced by Assistant Minister of Health of Russia Alexei Kuznetsov. According to him, Minister Mikhail Murashko has repeatedly raised the issue of overestimating the cost of PCR testing in the regions, TASS reports.

Earlier, the Parliament of St. Petersburg officially asked Murashko to take personal control over the solution to the problem with retail prices for PCR tests and medicines for the treatment of coronavirus infection. According to the monitoring data referred to by the deputies, prices in pharmacies varied in the range of 646-3000 rubles, in specialized medical organizations prices started from 1200 rubles. Express testing increased the price by 50% or more.

On the eve of the FAS said that it checked the prices for PCR tests in both private and public medical institutions in the regions on behalf of Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. Of the 1,254 institutions where you can take the test, 960 are state-owned, and in 23 regions, private traders do not offer this service at all. The range of prices is from 440 to 3483 rubles, excluding the cost of material sampling. The FAS plans to develop a methodology for setting recommended marginal prices for PCR tests in private laboratories.
