Russia - Retail chains complied with all FAS orders to reduce food prices

Russia (bbabo.net), - Retail chains complied with all the instructions of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, which were issued after inspections in the regions. This was reported in the press service of the FAS.

The department noted that in 2021, the antimonopoly service issued 11 prescriptions to retailers.

"At the moment, all of them have been fulfilled. Thanks to this, prices for a number of food products have been reduced for the first time in the Kaluga, Moscow, Kursk, Lipetsk, Saratov, Chelyabinsk and Novosibirsk regions, in the Stavropol Territory, as well as in the Republics of Kalmykia and Khakassia," the report says. FAS.

JSC "Tander" (trading network "Magnit") was the last to report on the fulfillment of the order. Earlier, the FAS Department for the Kaluga Region required the retailer to reduce food prices in seven municipal districts where Magnit held a dominant position. "Currently, the cost of these products does not exceed the price set in Kaluga chain stores, where the retailer competes with other market participants," the FAS stressed.

The antimonopoly department emphasized that they would continue monitoring retail prices for socially important food products.

Earlier, the antimonopoly agency suggested that the largest retail chains work out mechanisms for responsible pricing. After that, three retailers - Tander JSC (Magnit and Dixy), X5 Retail Group (Pyaterochka, Perekrestok and Chizhik) and Bristol - voluntarily pledged to limit margins on a number of goods.

After that, similar obligations were assumed by regional retailers. We are talking about mark-ups on meat, sunflower and butter, eggs, sugar, salt, tea, cereals, as well as vegetables of the “borscht set”.
