The number of closed companies in Russia in 2021 decreased to a minimum since 2017. Vedomosti writes about this, referring to the data of the Federal Tax Service.

In 2021, the outflow of enterprises amounted to 152 thousand companies, which is 20% less than in 2020. It is also the lowest value since 2017.

In total, 1.2 million firms were liquidated in 2021, while in 2020 this value was above 1.5 million. Most of them are individual entrepreneurs and farms, which accounted for more than 70% of closures (813 thousand). Legal entities were liquidated two times less than individual entrepreneurs (405 thousand).

But there were a little more than 1 million open companies in 2021. Most of the discoveries were made by individual entrepreneurs, which increased by 825 thousand. This figure is more than 30% higher than the value of 2020. The opening of firms by legal entities, compared to 2020, has not changed and amounted to 241 thousand people.

At the end of December, a study by the international audit and consulting network FinExpertiza stated that the number of closed companies in Russia in 2021 decreased to the lowest levels in six years. According to the data for 11 months, 345.7 thousand companies left the market.
