“The pyramid was created in 2020. The accomplices advertised investments in profitable business projects on the Internet. Moreover, potential investors were promised income in the amount of almost one hundred percent of the deposit amount. In fact, initially, payments were made at the expense of funds received from new customers, and then stopped. In this way, non-cash funds of almost three thousand citizens were attracted for a total amount of over 915 million rubles, ”the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
18 people were detained (five of them, according to the investigation, were the organizers of the pyramid), and two are wanted.
A number of criminal cases have been initiated under the articles “Organization of a criminal community or participation in it”, “Fraud”, “Money legalization (laundering)”. Some of the detainees were taken into custody, some are under house arrest or "certain actions" are prohibited.
To compensate for the damage, the police also seized 21 million rubles, $ 20 thousand, 17 cars in the amount of 32 million rubles. and 139 jewelry worth 9.7 million rubles.
Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Russian Federation set the task for the Central Bank to strengthen the control of banks over the monetary transactions of individuals by the end of November 2022.
