Lessors demanded from Ukrainian air carriers to return planes to the EU

The lessors demanded that Ukrainian air carriers return the planes to the territory of the European Union as soon as possible, SkyUp reported.

“On February 12, the world’s largest insurance companies informed Ukrainian air carriers that they would stop insuring aircraft for flights in Ukrainian airspace within 48 hours,” the publication on the airline’s website says.

It is noted that such a decision was made in connection with "increased risks of the outbreak of hostilities." "Accordingly, the owners of aircraft - lessors - demand the speedy return of aircraft to the EU," SkyUp said.

Earlier it was reported that the lessor banned the SkyUp aircraft from entering the airspace of Ukraine, interrupting the flight from the Portuguese Madeira to Kiev. As a result, the aircraft landed in Chisinau. Passengers will be delivered to Ukraine by buses.

At the same time, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine stated that no decision was made to close the airspace.
