Reuters: World Bank evacuates staff from Ukraine

The World Bank is temporarily removing staff from Ukraine, fearing for their safety amid reports of hypothetical Russian aggression. This was reported by Reuters, which was in possession of a memo from the bank.

“The World Bank's top priority is to keep our employees and their families safe. In accordance with our evacuation policy, temporary relocation of employees and enhanced security measures are being implemented,” it says.

The document also notes that the bank is closely following the development of the situation in Ukraine and does not stop working in the country.

Earlier, the mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, announced the creation of a commission to prepare for the evacuation of the city's residents in the event of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. According to him, a system for managing the territorial defense of the Ukrainian capital has also been created, and it is planned to open a second recruiting center there. He noted that every day more than 100 people of Kiev declare their desire to join the defense of the city.
