Europe accused Russia of creating problems for the Ukrainian economy

The European Parliament said that the problems faced by the Ukrainian economy are related to tensions between Ukraine and Russia. This, among other things, justifies the decision to provide financial assistance to Kiev published on the website of the Parliament.

“The growing geopolitical tensions on the border with Russia have had a significant indirect impact on confidence, in particular, of foreign investors. The national currency has lost nine percent of its value against the US dollar since mid-November 2021, despite interventions by the National Bank of Ukraine worth about $1.6 billion over the same period.

The deputies note that the aggravation on the Russian-Ukrainian border has been ongoing since the fall of 2021. According to them, in Ukraine there is a “constant outflow of capital and a reduction in official foreign exchange reserves. At the end of 2021, inflation reached 10%, they added.

Earlier, Politico wrote that more than 70% of Europeans supported the defense of Ukraine in the event of a Russian invasion.
