WSJ: Saudi Arabia rejects US request to increase oil production

Saudi Arabia has not granted US President Joseph Biden's request for an increase in oil production, according to The Wall Street Journal columnist Benoit Faucon.

The American leader asked for this in order to reduce the price of energy.

As Faucon noted, Saudi Arabia “decided to side with Russia” by this decision, being the largest exporter of crude oil in the world.

The price of oil for American consumers, he said, doubled after the pandemic, so Biden repeatedly turned to the Saudi authorities. However, in response, it was stated that the country would not violate the agreement between OPEC members and Russia on a monthly increase in fuel production by 400,000 barrels.

Earlier it became known that on February 16, the cost of Russian export oil Urals in Europe exceeded $99 per barrel for the first time in eight years.
