The Fuel Union allowed the closure of gas stations due to new rules for topping up gasoline

Representatives of the Russian business asked to soften the control over the accuracy of dispensing fuel at gas stations, as they increase the risk of closing gas stations. Izvestia writes about this, referring to a letter from the President of the Independent Fuel Union (NTS) Pavel Bazhenov to the State Duma.

The union considered that the requirements put forward to the gas station may not be feasible. We are talking about the draft of the new Code of Administrative Offenses, which provides for gas stations in the amount of 1% of the turnover, but not less than 500 thousand rubles. when revealing the facts of underfilling of gasoline. Now they do not exceed 100 thousand rubles. It is also proposed that from January 1, 2024, the margin of error for underfilling should be reduced from 0.5% to 0.25%.

“The sanctions envisaged in the draft, together with new requirements for the maximum permissible filling error for the vast majority of independent fuel companies, will actually become disastrous, which could potentially lead to a massive closure of filling stations,” the letter says.

The representative of the State Duma confirmed receipt of the letter and said that after its consideration it would be sent to the head of Rosstandart Anton Shalaev, in order to later hold a meeting on the possible consequences of the new rules of the Code of Administrative Offenses.

Rosstandart considered that the new requirements could in no way lead to negative consequences for gas stations and are quite feasible. The business is given a three-year transition period. This time is necessary for the owners of gas stations to be able to bring the equipment to readiness.

In early February, Russian filling stations recorded a decline in fuel sales. The deterioration in the activity of motorists was associated with the spread of the Omicron strain and a sharp increase in the number of cases in the country, the transition to remote work and snowy winters, which is why many drivers stopped using personal vehicles.
