Moldova (bbabo.net), - The development of business opportunities for women producers was the topic of a round table recently organized at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry. The purpose of the event was to analyze the role of women entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector, identify the main factors of their vulnerability and aspect in agriculture, informs moldpres.md

According to Yury Skrypnik, State Secretary of the Ministry, government bodies are focused on creating economic conditions for women in agriculture by increasing access to investment and helping to develop agricultural businesses.

“Women farmers in Moldova actively use state subsidies in all areas, established by the Regulations on the conditions and procedure for providing funds by the National Fund for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Environment,” the official stressed.

Thus, through the Agency for Interventions and Payments in Agriculture, last year about 800 women applied for subsidies in the agricultural sector. At the same time, taking into account the advance subsidies for start-up projects in 2021, 40 applications were selected for funding, of which 22 will be led by women.

“This shows that women are encouraged and motivated to contribute to the development of the agricultural and rural sector,” Skripnik said.

The event included a series of panel discussions that analyzed the experience of other countries in the region in supporting women in rural areas and presented a report assessing the needs of women producers in sustainable business development.
