Russia - Experienced MS-21-300 after testing returned from Yakutsk to Zhukovsky

Russia (bbabo.net), - Experimental MS-21-300 manufactured by PJSC Irkut Corporation (part of PJSC UAC of the Rostec State Corporation) completed tests in conditions of low negative outdoor temperatures in Yakutsk and returned to the test base in Zhukovsky.

According to the UAC, the aircraft and its systems have been tested since January 23, 2022 at temperatures below minus 30 ° C as part of work to expand the type certificate. Before each stage, MS-21-300 was outdoors for approximately 12 hours. Or, as they say, "cooled". Then came the regular procedures for preparing for the flight: refueling, turning on the systems, starting the main engines and auxiliary power unit, warming up the aircraft, etc.

Note that the Yakutsk airport is actively used as a unique testing ground for new aircraft in extremely low temperatures. So, over the past five years, Boeing, the Kazan Helicopter Plant, the National Center for Helicopter Engineering named after M. L. Mil and N. I. Kamov have tested their machines here.

All MS-21-300 systems were tested as a whole. Experts clarify: in Yakutsk, a series of flights lasting up to six hours was carried out over various, including the northern regions of the region. Landings were mainly carried out at night, when the "minuses" were the lowest. The aircraft performed a number of complex modes, in particular, a planned shutdown and start-up of one of the main engines in flight was carried out.

According to Andrey Boginsky, General Director of the Irkut Corporation, an important stage of testing to expand the type certificate for the MS-21-300 aircraft has been completed. This year, it is planned to actively test the aircraft in various regions of Russia and abroad, including in high altitude conditions, strong crosswinds and high temperatures.

Recall: within the framework of the IX National Exhibition and Forum of Civil Aviation Infrastructure NAIS 2022, the head of the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) Alexander Neradko presented UAC General Director Yuri Slyusar with a type certificate for the MS-21-300 aircraft and a certificate for the developer of aviation equipment. The type certificate confirms the compliance of the MC-21-300 aircraft with the requirements for civil aviation equipment.
