Klaus Ernst, head of the Bundestag committee on energy and climate protection, Left Party MP, told TASS that the German government should stop threatening Russia with sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
The parliamentarian recalled the statement of German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock, who said that in the event of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Berlin could impose restrictions on the gas pipeline.
“After this statement, it becomes clear that Burbock takes into account the interests of the United States, and not the interests of the Federal Republic. Nord Stream 2 must be kept away from this conflict. Or maybe Burbock also wants to stop the import of gas that comes through other pipelines?” he said.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced the joint reaction of Berlin and Washington directed against Nord Stream 2 to hypothetical Russian aggression.
