Ukraine did not want to refuse the transit of Russian gas

The head of Naftogaz, Yuriy Vitrenko, said that he expects the continuation of Russian transit through Ukraine if there are no active hostilities. It is reported by TASS.

“If there is no full-scale war, active hostilities, we do not expect the transit to stop,” he said.

According to him, Russia has come close to the minimum volumes that Gazprom is obliged to supply to the European Union, and if transit decreases, then fines may await Moscow for this.

The head of Naftogaz spoke about the worsening situation with gas in the part of Donbas controlled by Ukraine. Vitrenko said that due to the intensification of hostilities, more than 500 houses and apartments were left without gas.

Earlier, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Rostislav Shurma said that Kiev is negotiating with various gas suppliers for the next heating season. The official added that Ukraine intends to significantly increase the volume of its own gas production over the next three years - by 3-5 billion cubic meters. m.

Prior to this, the Ukrainian publication Strana.ua suggested that the transit of Russian gas through the territory of Ukraine is possible with an increase in fuel supplies to Europe under long-term contracts.
