The Kremlin appreciated Scholz's statement to stop the certification of Nord Stream 2

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov commented on the statement of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on the suspension of the certification process of the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline in response to Moscow's recognition of the LPR and DPR. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

According to Peskov, Russia took the announcement of the suspension of certification with regret, as this is a purely commercial project that has nothing to do with politics.

“And both suppliers, that is, we, and recipients of our gas, primarily Germany, as well as all other European countries, are interested in it,” the Kremlin spokesman said.

He noted that it is wrong to slow down the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 project for political reasons, and the Kremlin hopes that this is a temporary solution.

Earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said he asked the Federal Ministry of Economics to withdraw the report on energy security from the Federal Grid Agency. He assured that this step does not allow Nord Stream 2 to receive a certificate and be launched.

Later it became known that the German Ministry of Economics suspended the certification process for Nord Stream 2.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, called the possible suspension of the certification of the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline an attempt to put political pressure on business and the energy market.
