French Minister of Economy and Finance Bruno Le Maire said that the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline will work if Russia fulfills its obligations, BFM TV channel reports.
“Stopping this project is the right and courageous decision. Energy independence should be a priority for the EU. Nord Stream 2 can resume on the day when the Russian authorities fulfill their international obligations,” Le Maire said.
What kind of "international obligations" Russia must fulfill, he did not specify.
In addition, Le Maire said that France is not as dependent on gas supplies from Russia as Germany. At the same time, he admitted that his department had to freeze gas prices this year.
