Bloomberg: the fortune of 23 richest businessmen of the Russian Federation decreased by $32 billion

Against the background of the escalation around Ukraine, the total fortune of the 23 richest businessmen in Russia decreased by $32 billion, Bloomberg reports.

When analyzing, the publication focused on its own list of the 500 richest people in the world.

In particular, the owner of Volga Group, Gennady Timchenko, lost a little more than $6 billion and now his fortune totals $16 billion.

Also, the amount of money from the chairman of the board of the gas company Novatek Leonid Mikhelson (-$6.2 billion) and the chief executive officer of Lukoil Vagit Alekperov (-$3.5 billion) also decreased.

On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees recognizing the sovereignty of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. Treaties of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance were signed with their leaders. After that, the US, Canada and the UK announced sanctions against the Russian Federation.
