Japan has decided to freeze the assets of VEB, Promsvyazbank and Rossiya Bank as part of sanctions measures against Russia in connection with the military operation to protect Donbass. This was announced during a press conference by Japanese Finance Minister Shun'ichi Suzuki, TASS reports.

On the eve it became known that Japan imposed new sanctions against Russia in connection with the situation in Ukraine. Tokyo froze the issuance of visas to Russians and the assets of financial institutions, and also restricted the export of goods to organizations that are associated with the military sector.

In addition, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said that it was decided to exclude the energy sector from the list of sanctions against Russia in agreement with the United States and other states.
