Russia - An expert predicted the future of shopping centers

Russia (bbabo.net), - By 2030, the actual trade in goods in shopping centers will occupy much smaller areas than now. Participants of the event "MosInterCon 2021: Days of Shopping Centers" spoke about this.

In eight years, people will come to shopping centers to get the experience that cannot be bought online, said Anna Papaskiri, sales director of ADG group. "This is leisure, food, which already takes from 15 to 20%. Retail will occupy less space. The question of formats remains open - what will it be: points of issue or mixed formats," she said.

Before the pandemic, the share of food retail and shopping galleries in the shopping center was about 60%, but by 2030 it will drop to 36%, Papaskiri believes. At the same time, the entertainment zone of the shopping center will expand, which will occupy up to 30% of the area (from 2013 to 2019 it has already grown from 7% to 23%). The areas occupied by public catering will increase, but not so significantly, they will occupy a fifth of the shopping center (in 2013, for comparison, 5%). Now the most popular in the shopping centers of sleeping areas are Japanese, Georgian, Italian cuisine, as well as coffee shops.

In addition, the share of space occupied by services and various services will increase - if before the pandemic they accounted for 3%, then in 2030 it will be about 10%.
