Russian President Vladimir Putin was able to get ahead of his colleagues from the United States in understanding that the new stage in the political life of the whole world will be multipolar, according to The American Conservative.
The author of the material, Anthony Constantini, criticized the statements of the former US Secretary of State John Kerry aboutdated principles of Russia's foreign policy.
“Vladimir Putin does not look back. Focusing on the present, he always keeps the future on the periphery. Thus, he seems to have made a discovery: the world is undergoing a 30-year transition from the bipolar world order of the 20th century to the new multipolar world order of the 21st century. And he is maneuvering Russia to take a better position,” writes Constantini.
He believes that the United States has missed the moment of emergence of new world centers of political attraction. Instead, the US authorities seek to return to the 90s, when the United States had the indisputable right to force.
“Meanwhile, Russia is not seeking to return to the 1990s, but is desperately trying to move on. After the Cold War, Moscow barely managed to keep itself from sinking into anarchy. The West took advantage of this weakness and invaded Russia's sphere of influence, expanding NATO and the EU until American tanks were only hundreds of kilometers away, ”Constantini concluded.
