Fraudsters have come up with a new scheme to deceive pensioners under the guise of home craftsmen

Fraudsters in Russia have come up with a new way of deceiving pensioners, convincing them to subscribe to diagnostics and repair of windows, batteries, household appliances at inflated prices, Izvestia writes.

Attackers make regular visits to victims under the guise of "do-it-yourselfers" from fly-by-night firms who disguise themselves as well-known companies. Moreover, the cost of their services can exceed hundreds of thousands. The publication cites a case when the estimate was 412 thousand rubles.

Earlier, the head of the All-Russian Popular Front project "For the Rights of Borrowers" Evgenia Lazareva said that telephone scammers had developed a new scheme to steal money from Russians. According to her, now cybercriminals are sending their potential victims mailings with a warning about the need to urgently solve the alleged problem. After that, citizens contact the robbers and, during the conversation, provide them with personal data or install malware on their devices.
