Small and medium sized fishermen may exit the market

The withdrawal from the market of small and medium-sized enterprises of the fishing industry will lead to the second stage of the distribution of investment quotas among the fishing industry planned for 2023. This was reported by the Association of Fisheries Enterprises of Primorye (ARPP). We are talking about enterprises engaged in fishing and crabs, writes Kommersant.

The largest fishery companies that participated in the first stage of auctions for allocating quotas in exchange for investments in the construction of ships and factories will become the beneficiaries of the second stage, while small and medium-sized enterprises may leave the market.

The second phase of the program will begin in 2023. At the auctions, it is planned to distribute 20% of the pollock and herring catch in the Far East, 50% of quotas for crab catch and the full volume of quotas for catching shellfish.

As a result, 30 fishing vessels and 35 crab fishing vessels will be built. It is also planned to build ten factories for 300 billion rubles.

Earlier it was reported that China has limited imports in order to obtain a quota for fishing in Russian waters.
