WiTricity joins the Wireless Power Consortium

WiTricity, a decade and a half in wireless power technology, has announced it has joined the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC). The WPC Consortium, founded in 2008, is a group that develops standards to ensure interoperability of all wireless chargers and wireless power supplies for smartphones and mobile devices.

“We are proud of our pioneering work in the wireless charging industry and are pleased to support the global adoption of wireless charging in all applications. Given our technological leadership in the wireless charging industry, it was natural to join the more than 400 companies around the world that are part of the Wireless Power Consortium, ”said Alex Gruzen, CEO of WiTricity. "We strongly believe in the WPC's commitment to providing worldwide compatibility of wireless chargers and wireless power supplies for smartphones and mobile devices."

Earlier this year, WiTricity also joined the Qi Core Standard Patent Pool, licensed by MPEG LA.
