Putin called Rusnano a viable company despite debts

Russian President Vladimir Putin called the situation with the debts of the state corporation Rusnano difficult, but he believes that the company is viable. The head of state spoke about this during a large press conference, and is broadcasting the press conference online.

At the same time, he noted that state guarantees for loans from Rusnano must be fulfilled, and the company must "calmly deal" with banks because of debts on its own.

As of early December, Rusnano repaid the issue of bonds without a state guarantee in the amount of 4.5 billion rubles in early December 2021 without the help of VEB. By the standards of the Russian market, the issue of Rusnano shares was small. But it turned out to be the center of attention, as the state-owned company announced in November that it was negotiating with its debt holders about a possible restructuring.

The total debt of Rusnano on bonds, including the redeemed issue, is 71.58 billion rubles.

Finance Minister Anton Siluanov at the end of November said that Rusnano is in the process of restructuring and all obligations that are secured by state guarantees will be fulfilled. On other debts, negotiations are underway with creditors, the minister said.
