Russia - More than 80 mobile communication towers will be built in Crimea and Sevastopol

Russia (bbabo.net), - To improve the quality of mobile communications in Sevastopol, 52 towers for base stations will be built under the federal target program (FTP) for the development of the peninsula. And in the Republic of Crimea in 2022, 200 stations will be updated and about 30 new ones will be built.

Earlier today, President Vladimir Putin said at a final press conference that the issue of the quality and availability of mobile communications in Crimea would be resolved, but did not disclose details so as not to interfere with this process. “We will find a way to ensure the interests of the people,” the president said.

According to Alexandra Osipova, director of the digital development department of Sevastopol, the government of the hero-city asked for funds in the FTP for the construction of antenna mast structures and the modernization of existing equipment in the city.

“It is planned to install 52 communication facilities: dual-purpose poles and antenna-mast structures to accommodate the equipment of mobile operators,” said Osipova.

She clarified that the new cell towers will be located in densely built-up residential areas of Sevastopol, in recreation areas and on popular tourist routes, as well as in the rural area.

The official also said that the large Crimean mobile operator K-Telecom in 2021 launched five new base stations in those areas of Sevastopol where there were interruptions in communication. Another operator, Sevmobile, has installed a station in the village of Laspi. The government of Sevastopol, for its part, has allocated about 20 land plots to operators for the construction of new base stations.

In the Republic of Crimea, according to the Minister of Internal Policy, Information and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mikhail Afanasyev, 198 base stations of cellular communication were modernized in 2021. In 2022, another 200 stations will be updated and about 30 new ones built, reports "Crimea 24".
