Nabiullina spoke about inflation in Russia at the end of 2021

The head of the Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina said that the annual inflation in the Russian Federation by the end of 2021 will slightly exceed 8%. She told about this in an interview with the TV channel "Russia-1".

“I think that by the end of the year we will have inflation slightly over 8%. This is a lot, this is more than our goal of 4%, ”Nabiullina said.

She stressed that food prices rose by 10.8%, while prices for vegetables and fruits rose by 19.4%. She noted that in 2021, cars and building materials also rose in price, but since September "prices have not just slowed down, but prices have begun to decline."

Nabiullina stressed that prices for services grew below the general rate of price growth in 2021.

Earlier, the head of the Central Bank said that the Bank of Russia has not yet achieved the rigidity of monetary conditions to reduce inflation in 2022.

Even with the rate unchanged, the severity of conditions could increase if inflation and inflationary expectations decline, she said.

The head of the Central Bank also said that it is too early to speak about the end of the policy tightening cycle in December. She explained that the Bank of Russia will monitor the inflation situation and make decisions based on it.
