Disagreements arose in the German government over the Nord Stream - 2

The contradictions between the positions of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock regarding the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline indicate a crisis within the German government. This was stated by the deputy of the Bundestag from the party "Alternative for Germany" Stefan Kotre in an interview with "Lente.ru".

In his opinion, Nord Stream 2 has turned from a private commercial project into a geopolitical problem directly for ideological reasons. Kotrets believes that the German government has no idea what the reality is, and thus endangers both the energy partnership between Germany and Russia, and the stability of energy supplies to Europe.

The MP expressed the hope that in the end Scholz will be able to prevail over the "stubborn ideologues" of the Green Party.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that the maximum period when the certification of the project should be completed is the end of the first half of 2022.

Nord Stream 2 envisaged the construction of two strings of a gas pipeline with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year from the Russian coast through the Baltic Sea to Germany - from the port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad Region to Greifswald.

The United States actively opposes this project, promoting its liquefied natural gas in the European Union. In addition, the project has other adversary countries, including Ukraine.
