Russia - Experts Named Six Signs of Future Energy

Russia (bbabo.net), - The future of energy in our country will be inextricably linked with digital technologies and the decentralization of energy production. Small generation facilities will be able to supply electricity to the grid and exchange it without loss of quality, which is very important for the development of renewable energy sources (RES) in our country. This is the conclusion reached by specialists from the NTI Competence Center "Technologies for Electricity Transportation and Distributed Intelligent Energy Systems" operating at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute (MPEI).

In their opinion, the new energy mode can be called the "Internet of Energy", where ecosystems of energy producers and consumers are seamlessly integrated into the common infrastructure and exchange energy.

The digital transformation of the industry is already taking place, and new technologies will begin to appear and be used in 2022. Firstly, these are digital substations, where specialized artificial intelligence methods will be used, which will make it possible to restore protection and automation functions within tens of milliseconds in case of multiple failures in the system.

Intelligent metering and energy monitoring systems will appear. Since the beginning of 2022, only smart electricity metering devices for consumers are to be installed in Russia. But the matter does not end there. There will be systems for monitoring load nodes in and between networks, as well as advanced distribution network management and data collection systems (ADMS systems).

Work is underway to create a distributed intelligent power grid management system based on the "Internet of Energy" principle. This will ensure compliance with the requirements for the quality of electricity and the reliability of electricity supply to consumers in the context of the integration of a significant number of low-power generating plants (including those based on renewable energy sources) and storage devices through self-tuning and self-organization of control systems.

Safety will be ensured by automation systems for the elimination of accidents in air (cable) networks. In addition, it is planned to develop an automated system for scheduling maintenance and repair work based on a risk-based model to optimize operating costs and ensure the operational reliability of micro-power systems.
