Trading volume on the Moscow Exchange in 2021 amounted to a record quadrillion rubles

In 2021, the trading volume on the Moscow Exchange increased by 6.6%, reaching a record high of 1.01 quadrillion rubles. This is stated in the message of the site.

Record trading volumes at the end of 2021 were also recorded in the stock market. In 12 months they have grown by a quarter to 30 trillion rubles. The derivatives market grew by 21.7% to 158 trillion rubles, and the money market by 11.1% to 474 trillion rubles.

The market for standardized derivative financial instruments (SPFI) showed almost fivefold growth, reaching 2.8 trillion rubles, the market for precious metals quadrupled to 209.2 billion rubles.

On December 14, the Moscow Exchange index fell seriously and rolled back to 3532 points (an anti-record since March 2020). On the eve of the evening, trading on the floor closed with a fall of 3.77% - to 3618.3 points.

Experts named the statement of the World Health Organization as one of the reasons for the collapse. The WHO said the omicron variant of the coronavirus poses a "very high" global risk.
