Russia and the CIS (bbabo.net) - One of the oldest buildings in Bakhchisaray - Zyndzhyrly Madrasah, which is more than five hundred years old, the city authorities plan to turn into a new attraction for tourists, Millet reports.
The madrasah has completely preserved its authentic historical appearance. It has a unique story that you immerse yourself in from the doorway. The word "zyndzhyr" means "chain". This is where the name came from. A chain, which has been preserved since the founding of the school, hangs at the entrance, obliging everyone to bow their heads. Historians believe that according to the idea of Khan Mengligerai, this is how visitors expressed respect for science.
The school has fourteen rooms. This is a kind of analogue of a student hostel. Despite the tightness, up to five people fit in each, and, according to historians, there were times when about seven hundred people received knowledge here at the same time.
By the beginning of the tourist season, the Bakhchisaray Madrasah intends to inhale the warmth of a new life. The room will be equipped with exhibition stands filled with historical artifacts.
“Visitors will see the culture of the era of the Crimean Khanate not only on the example of the standard palace culture, already quite well known, but they will also show that the Crimean Khanate was not just a conquering state of wild nomads, but was also a state in which there is a place for science, culture and poetry,” said the head of the Department of History of the KIPU.
