Russia is ready, if necessary, to take reciprocal measures against journalists from Germany in the Russian Federation, but would not want this, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said following talks with Foreign Minister F Annalena Berbock.
He stressed that Moscow does not want to create obstacles to the work of German journalists in our country, but if necessary, we will be forced to take reciprocal actions, TASS quotes Lavrov.
The minister said that Moscow has reason to believe that the German authorities were directly involved in the harassment of RT DE.
Recall that in August RT DE received an official refusal to obtain a broadcasting license from Luxembourg, which referred to "information and analysis of the German authorities." In September, YouTube permanently removed two RT DE channels for allegedly "violating community guidelines". At the same time, RT DE was in fourth place in terms of influence among the German-language media.
The Union of Journalists of Russia handed Annalena Berbock a letter, which draws attention to the danger of politicizing the issue of the activities of Russian journalists in Germany.
As Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev said earlier, the pressure from the German authorities on the RT DE channel is an attempt to remove a competitor from the media field. The launch of the channel took place on December 16. Then the broadcast of the satellite signal was stopped at the request of the German media regulator.
