Russia - Deputy Burmatov: Cats and dogs will be included in the law on animal labeling

Russia (bbabo.net), - The Ministry of Agriculture will soon amend the law on mandatory labeling and registration of pets.

Vladimir Burmatov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Ecology, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, said that Russians have a positive attitude towards innovations. Now that the pet is lost, it is not easy to find it. With labeling, the task will be simplified.

In addition, accounting will bring to justice people who take cats or dogs for a short time - "play" and throw them away. The amendments made to the bill will make it possible to hold such Russians accountable.

"Accounting should be free," Burmatov emphasizes. As for the marking - the owner of the animal will be able to choose: it will be a tag, a brand or a chip.

It is worth recalling that the Ministry of Agriculture proposed marking animals back in 2019. However, the government submitted the bill for consideration only on November 17, 2021. And now, at a meeting in the State Duma on January 26, the document will be considered in the first reading.

And the amendments relating specifically to domestic animals will be submitted for the second reading, the Izvestia newspaper writes.
