Russia - Perm scientists improve the properties of roads with the help of ash

Russia (bbabo.net), - A group of scientists from the Perm National Research Polytechnic University (PNRPU) has developed a technology that can improve the quality of roads using ash and slag waste.

In particular, we are talking about ash, which is formed at thermal power plants. It meets environmental requirements, and it is now used in various industries: construction, metallurgy and agriculture.

- We have determined the optimal composition of the mixture of ash from sandy soil, which goes to the base of the road. It will help keep the soil from collapsing, since the ash conducts water well and prevents it from accumulating and eroding the base of the road. In addition, ash is an environmentally friendly material that does not have a negative impact on the environment, - explained Vladimir Kleveko, Associate Professor of the Department of Construction Production and Geotechnics, PNRPU, Candidate of Technical Sciences.

Through tests, the researchers proved that the new soil composition is more resistant to deformation. In the foreseeable future, it can be used to build roads in the Perm Territory and other Russian regions where thermal power plants operate.
