Moldova (bbabo.net), - The parliamentary majority approved in the first reading a bill on the introduction of a special evaluation commission for candidates to the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM) and the Superior Council of the Prosecutor's Office (SCP). Minister of Justice Sergiu Litvinenko commented on this bill on his Facebook page, nokta.md reports.
Sergiu Litvinenko said that today they have taken the first step towards cleaning the justice system from corrupt officials and unscrupulous people. The Minister of Justice noted that it should be systemic and start at the highest level.
“We started with the SCM and the SCM, the bodies that dictate all appointments, promotions and dismissals of judges and prosecutors. It is very important that honest and decent people work in these bodies, who will not make decisions based on the size of the “bags”, and will not allow compromised people into the system who made frankly illegal decisions or managed to accumulate a fortune that far exceeds their declared official income,” wrote Litvinenko.
He also noted that it will not be easy and there will be those who will resist. At the same time, he promised that his party would remain as consistent as it had been since 2016.
“I am confident in this - we will succeed in implementing this ambitious project, which will form the basis of systemic justice reform. Only in this way will we be able to stop corruption schemes in the judicial system and succeed in building a legal state that the citizens of Moldova can trust,” he concluded.
