Russia - In Yakutia, athletes ran a marathon at 50 degrees below zero

Russia (bbabo.net), - An extreme race "Pole of Cold" took place in Yakutia. It was attended by about 70 athletes, both amateurs and professionals. They ran a marathon from the village of Oymyakon to the village of Tomtor in a frost of 53 degrees. Runners from Belarus, the USA and the UAE also took part in the distance.

The run took place for the third time. This year it was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Yakut Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic and the 80th anniversary of the Alaska-Siberia route of courage. Participants ran distances ranging from 5 to 42 kilometers.

According to the "Rescue Service of Yakutia", along the entire route, the runners were accompanied by medical aid and rescuers.

According to the information of "Sport of Yakutia", the race was won by Vasily Lukin from Churapcha. He ran 42.2 kilometers in three hours and 22 minutes. Vasily Spiridonov won at a distance of 21.1 kilometers (one hour 40 minutes). Spiridon Makarov (52 minutes and three seconds) covered ten kilometers faster than Vladimir Torduyanov (24 minutes and 27 seconds). The total prize fund amounted to 300 thousand rubles.
