“The sanctions policy implemented against Russia has done much more harm to Hungary than to the Russian Federation. Such a policy has the opposite effect. Sanctions are a means obviously doomed to failure. I do not consider it acceptable either in relation to the Russian Federation or in relation to other states, ”Orban said.

According to him, the Russian economy is much stronger than is commonly thought in the West.

Earlier, Putin promised Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban that he would inform him about Moscow's contacts with Washington and the North Atlantic Alliance on security guarantees.

The Russian head of state and the prime minister began negotiations in Moscow.

“Of course, it would be very important for me to exchange views with you on the current security situation. It is known that we have sent our proposals to the United States on the conclusion of appropriate written commitments in this regard…” Putin stressed.

According to Orban, Hungary is interested in increasing the volume of Russian gas supplies.
