More than 100 observers from the CIS will arrive in Belarus for the referendum

More than 100 observers from the Commonwealth countries will take part in the monitoring of the referendum on amendments and additions to the Basic Law of Belarus. These preliminary data were announced on Tuesday by First Deputy Executive Secretary of the CIS Leonid Anfimov following a meeting with Igor Karpenko, Chairman of the Central Commission of the Republic of Belarus for Elections and Republican Referendums, BelTA informs.

The work of the observers will be coordinated by the headquarters of the mission, which will analyze the electoral legislation, distribute observers among the regions of the country, and prepare the necessary information and regulatory materials. In order to comprehensively study the referendum campaign, the mission headquarters will send letters to state bodies that are competent to consider complaints related to violations of the referendum campaign, with a request to provide information on the applications received and the results of their consideration.

The CIS observers will carry out their mission in Sineokoya for the eleventh time. It also became known that they will announce their conclusions and assessments based on the results of the monitoring the very next day after the monitoring - February 28. As for the organization of the work of the members of the delegation, it will be built, as in all previous campaigns, on the principles of political neutrality, non-interference in the electoral process and in the internal affairs of the state, strictly in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Belarus.

By the way, the observer mission this year will be headed by the Deputy Executive Secretary of the CIS Ilhom Nematov, who has diplomatic service as the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Russia, the United States and India, and work as First Deputy Foreign Minister in Tashkent.

Already in his current position, he twice headed the teams of observers from the CIS in the elections in Armenia and the Russian Federation. His candidacy was approved by the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the Commonwealth Member States to the statutory and other bodies of the Commonwealth, the agency reports.

The work of CIS observers will be based, as in all previous campaigns, on the principles of political neutrality, non-interference in the electoral process and in the internal affairs of the state, strictly in accordance with Belarusian law.
