Russia (bbabo.net), - NATO is trying to reassure Russia by talking about its defensive nature, but at the same time calling it a threat and an adversary, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a press conference following talks with French President Emmanuel Macron./ i
"I would like to note that they are still trying to calm Russia down with arguments that NATO is a peaceful and purely defensive organization," the Russian leader pointed out and recalled that "citizens of many states" have already become convinced of the "peaceful" nature of the alliance, that including Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan and Serbia.
“Among other things, we cannot ignore this: in the 2019 NATO military strategy, Russia is directly named the main security threat and adversary,” Putin stressed. “NATO has designated us as an adversary, and has moved its military infrastructure close to our borders.”
At the same time, he added, NATO states consider themselves entitled to teach Russia where and how to deploy its troops on its own territory, and they interpret ordinary maneuvers as a threat of invasion into a neighboring state, in this case, Ukraine.
